Dance invades Padua: the International Dance Festival La Sfera returns.
Padua returns to transform itself into a large widespread stage with the 23rd edition of the International Festival La Sfera Danza, scheduled from September 19 to November 22, 2026.
For over two months, shows and performances will bring contemporary dance to some of the most evocative locations in Padua and the surrounding area, including theaters, monumental spaces, cloisters, and less conventional settings. The goal is to create a dialogue between movement, architecture, and the city, bringing dance beyond the traditional confines of the stage.
The event, organized by the La Sfera Danza Association, brings together Italian and international artists, companies, and performers. The 2026 edition features over 150 artists and more than 30 shows and performances.
One of the Festival's key features is its choice to use a wide variety of locations as settings for performances. The North Loggia of the Palazzo della Ragione, the Museo degli Eremitani, the city's theaters, and other local venues thus become an integral part of the artistic creations.
The program includes national and regional premieres, site-specific productions, live music, and projects where dance, technology, and cultural heritage meet.
In addition to the performances, the Festival also dedicates space to young people and education. Initiatives and competitions aimed at younger generations are planned, as well as collaborations with local institutions such as the University of Padua and the Cesare Pollini Conservatory.
The review will continue until Sunday, November 22, 2026, with appointments distributed in various locations in Padua and the province.
