August at the Museums 2026: Free admission for University of Padua students
Summer in Padua offers an unmissable opportunity for those studying in the city. Throughout the month of August 2026, students of the University of Padua, including Erasmus students, will be able to visit some of the city's main civic museums for free thanks to the initiative 'August at the Museums 2026'.
If you're spending August in Padua to prepare for exams, work, or simply enjoy the city more peacefully, this is the perfect opportunity to rediscover the local artistic and cultural heritage without spending a thing.
Who can get in for free?
The initiative is dedicated to:
- students enrolled at the University of Padua;
- Erasmus students of the University;
- residents in the Municipality and Province of Padua.
For free access, simply present an identity document and, in the case of university students, a document certifying enrollment at the university.
Museums you can visit for free
From **1st to August 31, 2026 Free admission to the following civic museums will be available:
- Eremitani Museum (Archaeological Museum and Art Museum)
- Palace of Reason
- Zuckermann Palace
- Museum of the Risorgimento and the Contemporary Age, housed in the Pedrocchi Factory
The initiative does not include the Scrovegni Chapel and the Torre degli Anziani, which continue to follow the normal entry procedures.
A different way to experience Padua during the summer
Many students leave the city during August, but those who stay discover a quieter, less crowded Padua, perfect for exploring at your leisure.
Visiting museums allows you to better understand the city's history, from the Roman era to the Middle Ages, including its art collections and testimonies to the Italian Risorgimento. It's also a great break from studying, especially when preparing for summer exams.
A university city that invests in culture
The initiative was organized on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the registration of the 14th-century fresco cycles in Padua on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The goal is to make culture more accessible to both residents and the large university community that chooses Padua for its studies every year.
Experience Padua beyond university
Studying in Padua also means experiencing a city rich in cultural events. In August, in addition to free museums, the city's calendar features exhibitions, festivals, open-air cinema, and numerous summer events spread across the city's various neighborhoods. Those staying in the city can take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about the area and make their stay more enjoyable.
